Caribbeana Communication Incorporated is building a legacy as the voice of Caribbean media in the United States through radio and community engagement by educating, entertaining and enlightening all that is Caribbean. Our foundation rests upon our 3-E philosophy, which enables CCI to connect Caribbean and non-Caribbean audiences interested in Caribbean culture through media, technology and journalism.
Caribbeana’s legacy began with the vision of one man’s dream to impact the world through his passion of radio and adoration of Caribbean culture. This man is Vonulrick “Von” Martin, a Trinidadian born broadcaster, journalist, cultural attaché, producer and entrepreneur.
Mr. Martin created Caribbeana Radio Services in 1975 as a means of retaining a piece of home away from home as he migrated to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago. His radio program Caribbeana, a French term meaning “all that is Caribbean,” went on air in 1977. It was one of the initial radio programs of Pacifica Radio’s WPFW 89.3 FM community-based radio station in Washington, DC. CCI’s foundation manifests for the radio program Caribbeana. CCI aims to expand to new heights of holistically exposing Caribbean culture and its Diaspora throughout the world.
